Why Monica Garcia Didn’t Apologize at the RHOSLC Reunion

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 was one for the books with a reunion that finally concluded last night. But Monica Garcia didn’t want to let the reunion hang in the air on its own.

Monica preemptively released a number of her reflections on the season and reunion via interview. One has to give her props in a sense. She knew the reunion would create a lot of questions, so she wanted to get ahead of them.

One of the most resounding questions after the reunion was why didn’t Monica apologize to the cast at any point after Heather Gay exposed her Reality Von Tease involvement. Rest assured, Monica has an explanation.

Monica calls out Heather’s apology hypocrisy

In an interview with The Cut, Monica explained her lack of an apology at the reunion. “So this is the thing,” she began. “I am sorry that I ever involved myself in this account and that I got myself in this situation. The reason why I did not apologize is because I am not going to give a fake apology.”

She continued, “At that moment, I did not have it in me to apologize, because the women were relentless. I felt like they still weren’t willing to hear me.” Hear you regarding what, Monica?

She noted that, more than anything, it was hypocrisy that held her back from an apology. “Heather lied to their faces, lied to production, lied to investigators, lied to producers, lied to Andy Cohen, lied to the fans for over a year. She has existing relationships with these people — but I am being completely massacred.”

Moreover, Monica said she didn’t want to perform for the cameras. “You want me to apologize in that moment? I couldn’t do that. I didn’t have it in me to give a half-ass apology because it’s what people wanted to hear, because it would make me look better in the moment.

“I want to get to a place where I can actually sit down and have a civil conversation about this and give a genuine apology. But at the reunion, on that stage, in the situation I was in, it would not have been a real apology, so why even say it?”

Fair enough, perhaps. But Monica is rather selective about when to perform.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is available to stream on Peacock.
