Lindsay Hubbard’s behavior on Summer House Season 8 has been borderline appalling. I don’t agree with Lindsay questioning Carl Radke’s sobriety. However, I can see how she feels that there is a magnifying glass on her every move if he asks about how much she drinks. Since entering their summertime share, the house has been turned into hell’s waiting room as both have kept up the fighting. Carl and Lindsay have ended each night out in a major fight and have slept in separate rooms.
While the cameras have really been zooming in on Lindsay’s antics, I can’t help but wonder what makes her act so irrationally. Could there be more to the story? For the most part, we see Carl calm, cool, and collected, but he is being poked by her constant accusations. Could it be that Lindsay is trying to shine a light on deeper issues? Or is she just trying to throw boulders in an attempt to protect herself?
Carl’s sober journey
When Summer House fans first met Carl, he was the biggest playboy in the house. Also, he often gave off fu*kboy energy. He flirted with and dated multiple women, but after four seasons of his drunken antics, Carl became sober in 2020. Carl admitted that he would use alcohol to loosen up around big groups and thought he could still drink in moderation. Season 5 showed Carl losing his brother to a drug overdose, and in 2021, he hit his lowest point. He chose to recommit to sobriety in January 2021.
Carl later told CNN, “I made a commitment to try and get sober because I have a family that has addiction.” Carl also once commented about how he still supported Lindsay’s drinking as he shared with Us Weekly: “I’ve always wanted her to do what’s best for her and honestly, her having a glass of wine with her aunt or having a Loverboy with whoever, I fully support that. I think it’s all about communication and understanding.” Though I dare say “understanding” had gone right out the window for these two, it is starting to feel like Carl was never okay with Lindsay still having alcohol in her life.
Lindsay Accuses Carl Of Drinking
Everyone has been pretty supportive of Carl with the exception of Season 8 Lindsay. But Lindsay crossed a line during the new season when she bluntly asked if Carl had been drinking or on drugs. Now, we did learn that Carl is California Sober and still smokes weed. And we already know that many people, including Lala Kent, aren’t fans of that term and define being sober as giving up all vices. Lindsay asked, “Carl, do you smoke weed? Did you smoke weed tonight?” The part-time Loverboy employee said he had not.
Obviously, during the hype of a major argument, these questions could come across more as accusations, putting everyone on guard. But was Lindsay truly worried about her soon-to-be husband’s sobriety? Was the line of questioning just out of love? I find it extremely odd that so many of these fights are taking place in an Uber and conveniently have not been filmed.
Carl’s Outburst Explained
Upon returning to the house, Lindsay noted that Carl “picked a fight” with her in the car and stated, “Now everyone knows you’re no angel.” The former PR guru also confided to Amanda Batula, “He’s literally the biggest fu*king gaslighter I’ve ever met. He’s a fu*king terrorist.” Lindsay went on to share that Carl allegedly switched his narrative as he got more and more aggressive with her as he finally asked how much she had drunk.
Fans recently saw an unpleasant side to Carl as he yelled at Lindsay while the two were on the dock. The conversation went in circles, with Carl finally telling his fiancé, “You accused me of doing drugs again. It’s so fu*ked up.” Carl continued to raise his voice, which, I think, triggered Lindsay to shut down. It also probably doesn’t help that the entire bar was privy to their meltdown. But I honestly can’t figure out if Lindsay was trying to save face or if she often yelled out behind closed doors.
Trishelle Cannatella, a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Carl, pretty much summed up being a woman on Bravo noting: “Women get more harshly judged and worse edits on camera.” So maybe Lindsay has a reason for lashing out, but we need to watch it unfold.
