Season 8 of Summer House is in full swing. The new season, which premiered in February, is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic summers to date. Between Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard’s crumbling relationship to Ciara Miller and West Wilson’s budding romance, fans are very invested in the drama.

The season’s success can likely be attributed to the talk surrounding Carl and Lindsay’s breakup. The shocking split has caught the attention of new viewers. In honor of Season 8, let’s brush up on our Summer House history. Here are five episodes you need to watch if you are a new viewer.

Season 2, Episode 9: Summer Should Be Fun

In Season 2 of Summer House, Kyle Cooke was adjusting to being a taken man in the Hamptons. After endless summers of having no one to answer to, the Bravo star was coping with some relationship growing pains. By Episode 9, he had enough. He lashed out at his girlfriend, Amanda Batula, after she suggested he cool it with the drinking. He responded to Amanda’s request by saying, “Summer should be fun! Amanda, not fun.” The quote has become a favorite amongst fans. This episode is a core piece of Summer House history and helps us understand why Amanda has such a short fuse with Kyle sometimes.

Season 3, Episode 1: Elephant In the Room

Season 3 introduced a new era for the Summer House. The Wirkus twins and Stephen McGee left the show, leaving room for newbies Paige DeSorbo, Hannah Berner, and Jordan Verroi to enter. Hannah and Jordan didn’t last long but Paige has become a huge part of the show. It’s hard to imagine a time when she wasn’t in the mix. The premiere of Season 3 is essential viewing to understand her arc on the show. It also features fun moments like the cast reacting to Kyle’s 17-page email he sent everyone before move-in day. Insane.

Season 3, Episode 10: True or False

The Season 3 episode “True or False” is all about Amanda and Kyle. Lindsay informed Kyle that there was a rumor floating around that he made out with a girl who wasn’t Amanda during a drunken night out. Kyle admitted it was possible because he was partying a lot that month. He told Amanda about the rumor and she was obviously upset. This episode is honestly sad AF but it provides insight into Kyle and Amanda’s complicated history.

Season 5, Episode 1: Kiss and Don’t Tell

The Season 5 premiere “Kiss and Don’t Tell” introduced us to Ciara, so yeah, it’s essential viewing. Honestly, the whole season is important to watch. Between Lindsay’s sandwich rant and the Hannah, Ciara, Luke Gulbranson love triangle, there are a lot of iconic moments in there. However, the premiere is where it all began, so if you are looking for one episode from Season 5 to watch, this is definitely the one.

Honorable Mention: Season 4, Episode 1: The Big Bang

I wouldn’t call the Season 4 premiere “must-see TV” but it is the first time Carl and Lindsay reveal there might be something more than friendship between them. In the Episode “The Big Bang,” we find out that Lindsay and Carl hooked up before the start of filming. “Hooked up” might not be the right term. The house described it as a “no kiss, finger bang.” How romantic! The two decided to cool off their romantic tension for a bit after this quick departure from the friend zone but obviously, we know they pick it back up later on.

Season 4, Episode 3: Worst Date Ever

If you are seeking to understand Carl and Lindsay’s relationship, look no further than the Season 4 episode “Worst Date Ever.” After the finger bang, the two decided to go on a date to see if the spark was real. But it didn’t go so hot. They started yelling at each other like 10 minutes into the date. Lindsay even had to “take a lap” to cool off. Yeah, there were signs from the very start that this relationship was doomed.

Summer House airs Thursdays at 9 PM/ET on Bravo.
