Brittany Cartwright ‘Proud’ She’s Taking Charge During Jax Taylor Separation

Even though Brittany Cartwright has been going through it with husband Jax Taylor, the former Vanderpump Rules star says she’s feeling much better these days.

After announcing that she and Jax were living separately to better care for themselves and their child, Brittany told Us Weekly she’s in a good place. “I feel good,” she said. “I feel very strong, and I’m proud of myself for doing what’s right for my mental health and for my family.”

If you’ve been watching these two in their new series, The Valley, you may have noticed Brittany’s frustration with her husband during Episode 2. After getting into a sticky situation with Nia and Danny Booko, Brittany noted she found herself always cleaning up his mess.

“I’ve forgiven for things that I shouldn’t have over the past years, but I just have always loved him so much and stood by him no matter what,” she explained. “I’m always taking up for him, always apologizing, always cleaning up messes, and after nine years, that can really wear on you.”

During her recent Watch What Happens Live appearance, Brittany told Andy Cohen she defends Jax because she’s a “ride or die,” but that has sometimes caused more harm than good.

“I always try to bring people together [and] make things better. But, also, people like watching it are mad at me that I was doing that but that was my husband.”

Right now, Jax and Britt are still together despite living in separate homes. However, officially divorcing isn’t off of the table.

“I definitely think about it, but I’m just not there yet,” she said. “You go back and forth. It’s so hard when you have a kid, so it’s like a lot of ups and downs. Some days I’m like ‘Never coming back,’ and then other times I’m like, ‘We’ll see what happens.’ So it’s all up in that air right now.”

The Valley continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c.
