We’re Here Season 4 is coming to Max soon with an all-new set of drag queens. However, while these queens might be new to carrying the show, many in the drag community are likely already familiar with these names.
Season 4 will feature the likes of Sasha Velour, Latrice Royale, Priyanka, and Jaida Essence Hall (look over there!). The Emmy award-winning program will continue with its premise of organizing one-night-only drag shows among town residents.
And, speaking as an American, present-day America desperately needs messages like We’re Here can deliver. With so much fearmongering around gender ideology and drag queens as “groomers,” We’re Here has the chance to present necessary stories and education. So, what can audiences expect from Season 4?
We’re Here queens directly confront homophobia
On April 9, Max dropped the trailer for We’re Here Season 4. The first look opened with a voiceover from Jaida Essence Hall, saying, “Right now in the world, people who are different are being extremely targeted.” The trailer flashed images of homophobic and transphobic protestors. Priyanka said, “Because of the drag ban, we have a bigger community to empower.”
Sasha Velour added, “Bringing in more voices is essential. The We’re Here family just keeps growing.” Making their way to Oklahoma and Tennessee, “Because they tried to cancel Pride” according to Priyanka, the queen stated the goal of making “drag a spectacle.” A figure from off-screen warned the group that they could be arrested for their actions.
They confronted citizens who suggested the LGBTQ+ community was “a religious cult,” a gay drag queen running for public office, and other members of the community looking for self-actualization. “We’re people with rich stories,” Latrice Royale said. “Drag queens are at the forefront of this fight.” Jaida closed out the trailer saying, “And we’re not going anywhere.”
We’re Here Season 4 hits Max on Friday, April 26.
