Lala Kent Responds to Accusations She Was a ‘Production Puppet’ in Pump Rules Season 11

Lala Kent is denying that she was manipulated by the Vanderpump Rules production staff during Season 11.

Some fans wonder if Lala was a production minion operating on their behalf to guide storylines. “Were you a production puppet this season because you thought you were going to be rewarded?” a suspicious viewer asked.

The longtime cast member answered that reality television stars are “not rewarded” for following producers’ instructions. She also maintained that she gave her honest opinions during Pump Rules Season 11.

During the June 3 episode of her Give Them Lala podcast, Lala responded to fan questions about whether she was doing production’s bidding during Season 11.

“There’s a tier system in place,” the expectant mom said. “I went in, and I was authentic. And things that didn’t make sense to me, I asked questions. If I felt it, I said it … I will always have an opinion. It’s what allows me to go in and make TV.”

Ocean’s mom concluded by saying she has “never been anyone’s puppet.” I can’t imagine anyone ever thinking they could make Lala do anything she didn’t want to do. She’s very strong-willed and opinionated. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I just can’t see anybody forcing her to do something against her will.

“The audience knows me,” she continued. “They know that I can change up quick. I ask questions if things don’t make sense. I can go from slicing you with my words to being putty in your hand. It is what it is.” Especially now that she’s pregnant, Lala’s emotions seem to be more mercurial than ever.

The Give Them Lala Beauty founder added that she enjoys “healthy debates.”

“I love not seeing eye to eye with people,” she said. “It opens such fun, intense conversations, and I thrive off of environments like that, which is why I keep exposing myself to reality television because I enjoy it. I’ve never been anyone’s puppet. And I certainly wasn’t this season.”

Vanderpump Rules is now streaming on Peacock.
