Deal or No Deal Island: David Genat Says Parvati Shallow Is ‘On Another Level’ With ‘Strategic Gameplay’

Deal or No Deal Island continues to deliver jaw-dropping twists. Players never know what is going to happen next. And that includes two reality TV vets. Survivor legend Parvati Shallow and Australian Survivor winner David Genat started the Family alliance. However, they are both in it to win it.

David has been playing under the radar. The only person who recognized the Survivor star is Parvati. And she is willing to keep his secret.

“Survivor challenges are so easy, so linear. It’s Point A, Point B. I think that Deal does a really great job of leveling that playing field because you have to use your brain in every challenge,” David told US Weekly.

During the most recent episode, contestants had to jump from one of three platforms. Hanging out over the water were cases with a ring attached. Each player would choose to jump for a high, medium, or low-value case. Guests with a high-value case were safe at The Temple. And players with a low-value case were in danger. So, what’s the twist? Contestants are getting a case for someone else.

“So there is a physical component, even what we see with the rings, you have to be able to jump,” David explained. “You have to be able to grab a ring, so there’s some coordination involved. But the strategy of what you’re getting is major, and that’s what I think makes the game so interesting.” He added, “The challenges are so strategically based and every single one has a strategy to it.”

David took a moment to praise Parvati for her decision to get a case for Dr. Will Kirby. Now, Parvati cannot stand Dr. Will. However, he wanted to play the Banker. So, she retrieved a high-value case so that he couldn’t.

“I thought that was fantastic strategy. We were talking a lot through the challenge about how we were going to work it,” David said, “and she came up with that idea of me jumping for Phillip [Solomon] to leverage [Alexis] Lete, and then was like, ‘and I think I’ll jump for Will.’” He continued, “She’s just on another level when it comes to strategic gameplay. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Deal or No Deal Island continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
