Parvati Shallow is an icon in the reality TV competition realm. The Survivor legend has recently appeared on The Traitors, and she killed it (pun intended). Sadly, she didn’t win, but she played an incredible game. Now, Parvati is opening up about her life and her past. Her new memoir, Nice Girls Don’t Win: How I Burned It All Down to Claim My Power, offers fans a glimpse at Parvati at her most vulnerable, yet powerful.
Parvati Shallow shares her insight living in a cult

Parvati previously spoke with Reality Tea and shared that she felt “so much lighter” after writing her life story. “It’s also so vulnerable, it’s really intimate and raw, and some of these stories I think are going to take readers by surprise and blow their minds, because I really did go there and dug into some really tender, vulnerable parts of my life,” she explained.
In her memoir, Parvati revealed how her shocking childhood shaped how she would go on to play Survivor, Deal or No Deal Island, and The Traitors. Parvati spent her early years living on a commune run by a guru. She described the living conditions as “pure chaos.”
The reality TV icon told US Weekly, “I’ve been a student of yoga for decades, and the yoga community is full of these charismatic teachers and leaders who use love bombing to connect with their students to build a following. Then hearing the stories that my parents shared about the guru, I was like, ‘Oh my God, yeah, I’ve been using this.’”
Parvati continued, “My go-to strategy to win reality competition games is to make people fall in love with me. I am just naturally very enthusiastic and warm.” She added, “I can also turn it on in context like competitions to win.” Well, Parvati did say on Season 2 of DONDI that she could be a cult leader. Amazingly, she was able to stay in the game despite being the biggest target.
Nice Girls Don’t Win: How I Burned It All Down to Claim My Power is being released on July 8, 2025, and is available for pre-order.
The Traitors is streaming on Peacock.
