Teddi Mellencamp is fighting a serious battle against cancer. And to add to the physical challenge, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum is working hard to stay positive amidst her diagnosis, which started as melanoma in 2022. Unfortunately, the melanoma metastasized to Teddi’s brain and lungs. The tumors were discovered in February 2025.
The Two T’s In A Pod podcast cohost has tremendous support from her family and friends, including estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave. Teddi’s social media followers are also rallying behind the Bravolebrity. Staying positive is very important, so it’s understandable that Teddi would be upset by a misguided comment from a fan. And she responded to the comment in a recent post.
A tone-deaf fan made Teddi Mellencamp emotional amid her cancer battle
Teddi reshared the fan’s comment to her Instagram Stories on April 3. In essence, the follower suggested that the RHOBH alum’s prognosis is hopeless and catastrophic.
“This is so heartbreaking,” the followers wrote. “Typically, stage four cancer is terminal, especially with metastasis. Praying that Teddi heals and is an outlier.”
It was an unnecessary and sobering comment that challenged Teddi further to push toward positivity. Despite the comment, the former reality TV star feels strongly that she will beat the cancer.
“These kind of comments make me really sad,” Teddi replied in her post. “I know people are trying to help but heart breaking for me to read. Of course I know the chances but I truly believe with my whole heart I will beat this and watch my kids graduate.”
The mother of three shares Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove 5, with Edwin. And she plans to be around to see her kids grow up. Teddi joked about returning to work to “vent on the pod and have everyone get mad at me.” She also promised her family, including her rocker dad John Mellencamp who has been tending to her as well, that she would “annoy my siblings by reminding everyone I am the favorite.”
There was good news recently in that Teddi completed her radiation therapy. She shared an Instagram video April 3 of herself ringing a symbolic bell at the hospital.
“Ringing the bell can signify a major phase of treatment,” Teddi shared. “Today was my last day of radiation. 5 more rounds of immunotherapy to go. Love you all for the kind messages.”
Thankfully, the positive messages far outweigh any negative commentary. It’s commendable for Teddi to keep her spirits uplifted.
