Jax Taylor shared a deeply personal response to his son Cruz Cauchi’s autism diagnosis. The social media post came on the heels of estranged wife Brittany Cartwright’s official statement on the matter. Despite their chaotic courtship and marriage, The Valley stars can be commended for their dedication to their son.
The past year was challenging for Jax. He checked into a mental health facility and revealed a bipolar diagnosis. But it seems like his love for Cruz helped him pull through. Now, the father-of-one is promising to be Cruz’s “biggest supporter” as he and Brittany navigate their new normal.
Jax Taylor promises to be son Cruz’s “biggest supporter” following autism diagnosis
Several hours after Brittany’s statement was published, Jax shared a touching social media post to his “precious beautiful boy.” The Instagram carousel featured the father and son having a great time playing in the backyard. Cruz got tickled by his dad in one photo. In another Jax is lying on the ground hugging his son.
“I’m so proud to be your father and even though we may face challenges along the way I’ll always be your biggest supporter and cheerleader and make sure that you and other families on similar journeys affected by autism know that the sky is the limit even though life may look a little different,” The Valley star captioned the photos.
Brittany explained how Cruz’s development changed course at age two
According to Brittany’s statement, Cruz’s verbal development took a turn when he was two years old. He will be celebrating his fourth birthday on April 12. And his parents are dedicated to giving Cruz as much support as needed.
“He crawled early, he walked early,” she explained. “He was talking, he was saying, ‘Mommy,’ ‘Daddy.’ He was saying ‘Hot Dog!’ from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Then, as he got closer to 2, we started noticing that he was regressing in his speech. He stopped talking almost completely.”
Brittany concluded, “It can be sad at times because you want them to live life to the fullest, and he does, he just does it in a different way. What I really want people to understand about autism is he sees the world so much more vibrant and amazing than any of us ever will. It doesn’t mean that he’s not going to be the smartest in his class. It doesn’t mean he is not going to work for NASA one day. There aren’t any limitations to what he can do.”
