It always seems like a fantasy when people, especially Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars, try to maintain that they will have an amicable divorce. Season 14 showed Dorit Kemsley not holding back when it came to bad-mouthing her husband, PK Kemsley. From the onset, it felt like the pair had reached their limits. And even though both said they wanted to work on their marriage, they didn’t exactly give fans the warm and fuzzies. Now that the paperwork has been filed, viewers know it is going to be a fight to the death for these two.

One day after PK was caught smooching Ryan Seacrest’s ex-girlfriend, Shanna Wall from The Amazing Race, Dorit filed for divorce. Now, if that isn’t a checkmate move, I don’t know what is. Naturally, the music manager didn’t sit back quietly, and instead, he decided to throw some shade at Dorit in a series of Instagram posts and stories. The 57-year-old turned petty real quick as he wrote “No one plays the victim better than the one who caused the damage” and then quickly deleted the post. To add further fuel to the fire, PK added Culture Club’s song, Victims over the post.
On the same day as the spiteful post, Dorit was seen dropping her children off at their after-school activities without a wedding ring. After the reunion, PK took another shot at Dorit. This time, he posted a photo of himself in the doorway. He wrote, “It’s better to admit you walked through the wrong door than to spend your life in the wrong room.”

After their year-long separation, Dorit made some moves, which included hiring a well-known divorce attorney, Samantha Spector. A petition was later filed to end the marriage in Los Angeles County. In court documents obtained by TMZ, Dorit requested full physical and legal custody of Jagger and Phoenix. She also asked for spousal support from PK. Dorit seemed to know what she was doing as she waited to file after being married for ten years. Dorit and PK were officially married ten years as of March and allegedly do not have a prenuptial agreement.
And because they were married for more than 10 years as of last month, and allegedly have no prenup, PK could be forced to make payments to Dorit indefinitely, or until she remarries, per California law. In the state, the length of marriage generally plays a role in the divorce. California Family Code § 4336 states that “the court retains jurisdiction indefinitely in a proceeding for dissolution of marriage or for legal separation of the parties where the marriage is of long duration.” Also, per California law, PK could be forced to make spousal support payments to Dorit indefinitely, or until she remarries.

Both PK and Dorit have said some hurtful things about one another. Previously, Dorit told Kathy Hilton that PK wasn’t a great father. And she noted she tried to tell her children that PK wanted to see them, but was away with work. The sentiments didn’t sit well with PK at all, who felt Dorit had been the absent parent. The fashionista also seemed to weaponize PK’s alcoholism against him, which just felt icky. Dorit explained their fights, noting he often talked down to her. PK didn’t attend the reunion but did send a message to be read aloud. He wrote, “I was invited to be part of the Reunion. But declined because I don’t believe engaging with Dorit in this forum would be constructive.”
The father of two added, “Dorit has made several mischaracterizations about me. But the one I must address is the claim that I am a bad father. That statement is both heartbreaking and false. It is deeply hurtful to me and, more importantly, to our children, who, despite Dorit’s assertion, will inevitably see and hear all of this at a time not of our choosing.” He claimed, “Those closest to us know the truth. Many have wanted to speak out, but I have asked them not to because the truth should never need a champion. I refused to stoke a fire I did not ignite. The Dorit I married would never have allowed this, much less caused it. That woman embodied kindness, integrity, and grace. I can only hope this version of Dorit finds her way back to the person she once was.”
