Have you ever felt so mad or sad about a situation that you shrugged it off and pretended it didn’t happen? Yeah, Kody Brown of Sister Wives has too. The polygamous patriarch is minimizing his pain by saying that he never really loved his ex-wives. Or at least didn’t love them as much as he loves his current (and only) wife, Robyn Brown.
But despite his rhetoric, no one is buying it. Not even Robyn. The entire clan chatted one on one with host Sukanya Krishnan for the TLC series’ special and revealed many aspects of their marriage and their falling out. And one thing Kody seemed to keep reiterating is that it’s okay that he didn’t love his wives equally.
Kody Brown’s Sister Wives claims are questioned
“He doesn’t want to admit that he really did love me, you know, it’s fine,” Meri said. “My big thing is why don’t you say for once that you did and you changed your mind? Because that happens. That’s okay.”
Kody has never been one to be careful about how he words things and the impact of what he says on others. He even once claimed to be willing to “fake love” with Meri if that was what she wanted (it’s not!)
What Meri doesn’t like is him minimizing her and their relationship by saying it never happened. And surprisingly, even Robyn can’t back Kody on this saying that it was only his pain and anger talking. And anger can turn things ugly real fast.
For his part, Kody says, “It’s not a matter of rewriting the past. It’s a matter of where I was in the breakup. I am definitely guilty of going through a breakup scenario where I was like ‘I never loved them.’ It’s because of the space that we were in.”
Kody split from Christine in 2021 and Janelle and Meri revealed their breakup the following year. Now, Kody is in a monogamous relationship with Robyn. But only time will tell if that will last. Still, he continues to defend his love for her vigorously even saying loving people differently and not equally is normal.
“Your relationship with your children is different. Your relationship with your friend is different,” Kody insisted. “With Robyn it’s like you find higher love and everybody just slaps you down for it. I’m so sick and tired of being guilted for loving Robyn.”
Looks like both love and hate can make you say and do things you may not necessarily mean.
