It’s only logical to assume that having exposure from reality TV is a net positive for business ventures. Reality TV stars are known for branching off into other businesses and endorsements. Mauricio Umansky, for one, built himself a real estate empire from his time on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
And he’s now admitting just how much his tenure on RHOBH helped him with access and opportunities. Not only did he found a real estate brokerage known as The Agency, but he got a spinoff on Netflix. The unscripted series, Buying Beverly Hills premiered in 2022 and ran for two seasons. And now, Mauricio is considering his next career moves.
Mauricio Umansky doesn’t know if he’d sign up for RHOBH or reality TV again
Mauricio exclusively spoke to RealEstate.com.au about being on reality TV and how it’s helped his career. The Bravolebrity was in Australia to participate in the Australasian Real Estate Conference (AREC),
“It’s been fun,” he said of being recognized by RHOBH fans while Down Under. “I’ve been mobbed a little bit, but I’m okay!”
Mauricio reflected on the positives and negatives of having his own show on Netflix. During the two seasons stint, he was joined by daughters Alexia Umansky and Farrah Aldjufrie as they took on the real estate market in the most prestigious residential area in America.
“I used reality television to build The Agency,” he said. “The sacrifice of being on reality television is great. If you asked me today, if I would do that again, I don’t know. It’s an amazing marketing tool, but the sacrifice is your life becomes so public.”
Mauricio split from long-time wife Kyle Richards in June 2023. His dating life is now a source of tabloid fodder.
”People think they know you because of an hour on television. They don’t know you, but they think they know you. It’s an invasion of privacy — it’s very difficult,” he reacted.
But the public scrutiny is not slowing Mauricio down. He’s ready to take on the Gold Coast of Australia, and reality TV Down Under.
“You never know! I’ve already put myself out there, so I’ll do Buying Sydney, I’ll do buying Australia, I’ll do it all,” he teased.
