It wouldn’t be Bravo history if a Real Housewives marriage didn’t come with a side of mystery, legal rumors, and energy healing. Enter: Aaron Phypers. You might remember him as the intense, soft-spoken (but sometimes not-so-soft) husband of Denise Richards during her time on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. He was the guy who talked about the adverse effects of Diet Coke, whispered cryptic warnings at dinner parties, and seemed to hover protectively next to Denise at every turn.
Now, years after their whirlwind romance and increasingly strained TV appearances, Aaron and Denise are officially estranged. And the off-camera tea is piping hot. So what’s really going on with Aaron, and why did this seemingly spiritual love story fizzle out? Let’s get into it.
Who is Aaron Phypers and why did he and Denise Richards split?
Aaron first entered the Bravo universe as Denise’s mysterious new man during her RHOBH debut in Season 9. He was billed as a holistic healer and frequency medicine specialist. Basically, he wasn’t your average Beverly Hills husband. His presence on the show quickly became polarizing. Some fans were intrigued by his metaphysical musings, while others were simply confused when he claimed to be able to heal people using sound waves and quantum fields. During Season 10 Episode 3, Aaron went on a tangent. “Everything you’ve been taught about how diseases process and stuff works is not true,” Aaron claimed. “We already have people following us, be careful.”
At the time, Aaron described the Malibu center’s treatment services as “frequency medicine.” The former actor noted, “I break down stuff so you can all heal you. I don’t heal anybody, by the way. I remove blocks, discord, information.” Denise seemed to have also drank the Kool-Aid, adding, “Aaron has a job where people get tremendous results and sometimes certain organizations don’t like to see those results because they make a lot of money otherwise.”
Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers’ troubles
But beyond the crystals and chakra talk, Aaron served as Denise’s emotional anchor, at least at first. The couple married in 2018 after a whirlwind courtship. The wedding, which aired on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, took place just 48 hours after he proposed. It was as low-key as a Bravo wedding can be (if you ignore the fact that it happened in Malibu and was filmed for national television). However, cracks in the relationship started to show as quickly as the cameras started rolling. Aaron’s protectiveness sometimes crossed into controlling territory, with fans noting how Denise often seemed uncomfortable as he spoke for her or shut down conversations she was trying to have.
Remember that now-infamous dinner scene where Aaron whispered, “I already have people following me…” Yeah. That wasn’t exactly the kind of energy a secure husband would give. It also wasn’t great when fans watched Aaron squeeze the life out of his wife’s hands during an altercation. While Denise initially defended Aaron’s behavior, by the time she exited RHOBH, speculation about marital strain was already swirling. Fast forward to 2025, and it’s official: Denise and Aaron are estranged. On July 4th, Aaron had officially filed for divorce at Los Angeles’ Stanley Mosk Courthouse. And according to court documents obtained by US Weekly, Aaron listed “irreconcilable differences.”
Is Aaron Phypers having legal issues?
Now let’s talk about the elephant in the room—or rather, the rumors floating around in the Bravo blogosphere. Lately, there has been speculation that Aaron may be facing legal trouble related to his business practices at Q360, his alternative healing center. In Touch reported that Creditors Adjustment Bureau sued Aaron and his wellness company in 2022. The lawsuit was filed after Aaron applied for a $190,000 business loan with an 11% interest rate in 2019. And then defaulted on the payments. The court documents showed that Creditors Adjustment Bureau wants to use Denise’s wages to repay Aaron’s defaulted loan for the amount of $228,000.
Aaron’s clinic claims to use frequency-based healing to treat a variety of conditions. Everything from chronic pain to anxiety. While some clients reportedly swear by the treatments, others have raised eyebrows about the lack of medical licensing and formal credentials. One widow is suing Aaron for fraud and breach of an oral contract. Aaron might’ve started as Denise’s mysterious, spiritual rock, but the cracks in their relationship and his public image have become too big to ignore.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
