Someone’s IMDb page is getting a little longer! Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey just scored a leading role in an upcoming sports drama. It’s called Diamond, and the character that Cynthia is playing is vastly different from the woman we know from Bravo.
Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Cynthia Bailey has signed up to star in Diamond

According to a report from Deadline, Cynthia will play one of the lead roles in the film, which centers around a 17-year-old basketball player named Diamond McCarren, played by Jemarcus Kilgore. Cynthia’s character is his mother, who is “spiraling deeper into a heroin addiction.” Meanwhile, Diamond’s father, played by NFL star turned actor, Vernon Davis, is in jail.
The synopsis explained, “Just as his shot at a better life arrives — a college coach’s visit — his mother suffers a devastating overdose. Torn between chasing his dream and caring for the only parent he has left, Diamond makes a life-altering decision that challenges everything he thought he knew about loyalty, ambition, and manhood. In the aftermath, his sacrifice becomes the first step toward healing a family on the brink.”
This role is just the latest in Cynthia’s evolving acting career. After her exit from RHOA, she decided to focus on building up her resume, landing roles in BMF, Terror Lake Drive, and Single Drunk Female. For her role in Diamond, she said she felt an emotional connection to the story.
Cynthia said, “This story really touched with me. It showed how families can stay together through any and everything. I wanted the opportunity to play a meaningful role and when I read this script I knew this was it.”
Production on Diamond starts this weekend. Filming will take place in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Break a leg, Cynthia!
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is streaming on Peacock, and you can stream it on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
