Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp is breaking her silence about the alleged affair that ended her marriage. 13 years and three children into her marriage with Edwin Arroyave, Teddi had an affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroeder.
On August 5, Teddi opened up about the affair that blew up in celebrity news at the end of 2024. Speaking about the affair for the first time, Teddi openly wonders if she created some bad karma that gave her cancer.

“I’ve never talked about it at all, just because of the kids,” she said on the The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast. “I’ve never wanted anybody to have a guarantee whether it happened or didn’t happen. But what I can say is, did I do things that hurt other people? Yes.”
“To this day, does it still hurt my heart and I wonder if that’s why I got cancer?” she revealed. “Yes, like it was my payback … Nothing goes without payment.”
Diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma in 2022, Teddi endured multiple surgeries to remove cancerous lesions. Her doctors gave her a clean bill of health in late 2024. But following excruciating headaches in February 2025, doctors discovered four “plum-sized tumors” in her brain and her lungs. At that time, her diagnosis was updated to stage 4 metastatic melanoma.
“It was all over the press, it was everywhere,” she continued. “You’re trying to minimize everybody’s pain, [but] you end up maximizing it … Because now, not only do you have yourself, you have your significant other, your kids, the other person’s significant other, their kids.”
Despite her filing for divorce on November 1, 2024, Edwin stood by Teddi during her cancer treatment. They put the divorce on hold while Teddi went through surgery, radiation and immunotherapy. But once her condition stabilized, the legal proceedings one again moved forward.
“They still care about each other deeply,” a source told In Touch at the time. “But they know it’s time to go their separate ways.”
Since then, Teddi and Edwin have remained on good terms with each other, insisting that they’re still good friends. “They’re sad that this chapter is ending,” the source added. “But … they will still be family. They just won’t be married anymore … Not every breakup has to be messy.”
