Tamra Judge’s divorce from Simon Barney was a particularly intense one as per Real Housewives of Orange County standards. It left the RHOC star estranged from her daughter, Sidney Barney. And the former couple never moved past the initial animosity to a place of cordiality. Despite the final settlement being a reasonable one.
Now, Tamra is revealing shock details about her divorce from Simon. Long-time RHOC viewers will recall the fateful limo ride that resulted in the former CUT fitness owner asking for a divorce on camera. Well, according to her, Simon went tit-for-tat when it became clear that she wasn’t backing down. And her decision to file had ramifications.
Tamra Judge says ex-husband Simon Barney made her “pay” for asking for divorce on RHOC
“He made me pay for it. Basically, we stuck it out not much longer, then I went and got an apartment, borrowed $1,000 from my mom, started selling my clothes on eBay to make rent…” Tamra told podcast host Nick Viall on a recent episode of his show, The Viall Files.
The Bravolebrity explained how she believed Simon tried to control the public narrative. They were a household name at that point, due to their season on RHOC together. Tamra claimed that her ex-husband would put negative stories out on her.
“The last season he was on with me, that’s when I moved out. I’ve never gotten a cent from him, never, nothing. It was [a] dirty [divorce]. He had somebody in the press that he was talking to from The National Enquirer, and they were constantly putting stories out. They labelled me as ‘Monster Mom,’ and he would have them show up when we went to court and stuff,” she said.
Despite all the complex family dynamics, Tamra’s relationship with her daughter Sophia Barney has been heart-warming to watch on RHOC. The college student is attending a community institution, until she decides on what’s next. Sophia is very interested in producing music though. And Tamra has teased a potential move to New York for her daughter.
