Luann de Lesseps is taking a walk down memory lane. She’s looking back on memorable moments from the early years of The Real Housewives of New York. She’s sharing her thoughts on some iconic scenes from her time on RHONY, and fans are loving it.
She previously shared that she put together a “clip show,” where she shares clips from RHONY and then talks about what really happened and the backstory of the clip. She shared her take on the infamous Regency photo and ex-husband, Tom D’Agostino. And now she’s going back to the time the Countess ordered pizza.
Luann de Lesseps reveals why she used “Countess” during the RHONY pizza scene
Luann appeared on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show and shared her thoughts on a scene from RHONY Season 2. The episode was Hamptons Retreat… But No Surrender. In the scene, she orders pizza for dinner for her two children, Victoria and Noel. She feels this scene was misconstrued by fans.
“Well, you know, what people don’t realize about me is that I’m down to earth,” Luann said. “I’m not this countess that they built up ordering pizza.”
In the clip she was referencing, she said, “Can I order two large, plain cheese pizzas? That’s it. The name is Mrs. de Lesseps.”
Then she quickly adds, ‘Countess!” Her teenage daughter looks seemingly embarrassed.
“They couldn’t get de Lesseps right. They couldn’t get Luann right. So I finally resorted to countess,” Luann explained. “Like they’re going to know what a countess is. I mean, I didn’t know what a countess was.”
Luann was previously married to Count Alexandre de Lesseps. Some people misunderstood her use of either “countess” or “Mrs. de Lesseps.” She explained that it wasn’t about being pretentious or putting others down, it was just about how she was raised as a young adult in Europe.
Luann has definitely leaned into being the countess since then. She talks about it endearingly, she created a whole Countess Cabaret Tour, and she’s even released several Countess Luann songs.
The Real Housewives of New York is now streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
