Heather Dubrow and Terry Dubrow have always been interested in real estate. The Real Housewives of Orange County star has shown her tremendous passion for designing and decorating luxury homes on the show. And who wouldn’t buy a pent house apartment in LA just for sexy time?
But the reality TV star couple also invested in a real estate opportunity in the hopes of making a huge return. Unfortunately, in one instance, they were dealing with a swindler and got scammed big time. Heather spoke about what she learned from the experience during a recent episode of her and Terry’s shared podcast.
Heather and Terry Dubrow have opened up about how they lost $2 million in a financial scam
On their Between Us podcast, the couple explained how they were supposedly cheated out of $2 million. by someone posing as an accountant. They found out that the man they trusted with their money had little more experience than a “tax prep guy.” And he was linked to a “criminal enterprise.”
It happened at a time earlier in their careers. However, Heather was already making “a lot of money” acting. And Terry’s plastic surgery practice was well established.
“We were making a lot of money doing our thing, investing, and we had someone in our life, who we thought as a CPA, who was vetted from very high level people, so we didn’t vet him,” she explained.
Heather continued, “He got Terry involved in this scam and it was about renting out these apartments that were then going to be leased out for the World Cup and then make all this money. So we ended up losing about $2 million dollars and it turned out to be a scam, the whole thing.”
It was a learning experience for the RHOC favorite, who then took the reins on the couple’s finances. Nowadays, it’s only return on investments for this duo. Heather and Terry agreed that “compounding interest” is a winning tool in their portfolio. The recent loss on the Beverly Hills mansion was an exception.
