Bethenny Frankel Reacts to Kim Kardashian’s Skims’ New Hairy Underwear

Bethenny Frankel’s back with yet another viral rant, and the Real Housewives of New York alum has found a new target: Kim Kardashian. The reality mogul and Skims founder just launched a product that has everyone talking, and Bethenny isn’t holding back.

Kim, of course, is famous for turning nearly anything into a profit. The Kardashians star has made millions from beauty, fashion, and shapewear, and now she’s taken things to a strange new level. Her latest launch, Skims’ “Ultimate Bush” collection, features thongs with faux pubic hair attached to the front.

The internet didn’t know what to make of it, and Bethenny quickly joined the conversation with her usual mix of humor and disbelief.

Bethenny Frankel thinks women should just “grow bushes”

After seeing Kim’s “Ultimate Bush” underwear launch go viral earlier this week, Bethenny weighed in on Wednesday with a video posted to Instagram.

“The Skims bush underwear are taking me back to the Gwyneth Paltrow Goop Candle ‘This candle smells like my vagina,’” Bethenny said in her post. “That candle on its worst day did not smell like Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina on its best day. I stand by that.”

She continued, “I just don’t actually understand it. Whose bush was it modeled after? And, can’t we just grow bushes now?”

Bethenny then joked, “I think maybe she should’ve done, ‘These underwear smell like my bush.’ Maybe that would’ve take[n] it to the next level. I would understand it. But it just says that in marketing, anything goes.”

She called the product “clickbait” and a “shocking marketing idea,” questioning what kind of research went into it. Skims also drew tons of attention with their visible faux nipple bra a few years back.

“Everyone’s mad at Sydney Sweeney for being pretty and selling jeans,” Bethenny added, referencing the actress’s American Eagle campaign. “But it’s okay to just sell the bush. We’re in the upside down.”

Still, Bethenny admitted she understands the hustle. After all, the former reality star sold her Skinnygirl brand for a reported $120 million. She also reminded her four million followers to “sell whatever the f*ck you want.”

Meanwhile, Kim’s $32 “Faux Hair Panty” comes in several textures and shades. Each one is promoted with the tagline, “With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be.”

In addition, the launch featured a retro, 1970s-themed game show parody called “Does the Carpet Match the Drapes?” The video quickly sent shockwaves across social media. The unusual concept clearly worked, since the panties have already sold out and now have a waitlist.

Even though Bethenny can’t quite wrap her head around the idea, it’s obvious that plenty of shoppers were curious enough to buy in.
