Kandi Burruss certainly defined an era. She was one of the longest-running Housewives of Real Housewives of Atlanta. She’s also made her musical mark, writing some of our favorite hits with a Grammy to boot! Kandi has also succeeded as an actress, producer, and entrepreneur. As her friend and former Destiny’s Child member, Kelly Rowland, said to Andy Cohen, Kandi has “always been that chick.”

Kelly appeared on Radio Andy on Sirius XM and talked about her relationship with RHOA alum and music maven.
“What do you remember, by the way, about working with my friend Kandi Burruss back in the day?” Andy asked her. Kandi worked with Destiny’s Child and they credit her on their hit song Bills, Bills, Bills.
Kelly didn’t miss a beat, “Oh my, everything! Everything about working with Kandi Burruss,” she answered. “I remember what the studio smelled like, I remember walking in there and her saying, ‘I got this idea for a song,’” Kelly mentioned, doing a spot-on rendition of Kandi.
“She would literally just like sing a melody, and we’d start like playing off of each other,” Kelly recalled. “And then she’d ask us the next day like, ‘What y’all feel like talking about today?’ She was like a big sister in the studio. One that we could really bounce off in a really beautiful way.”
Kelly reiterated how much she loved Kandi and their time together. “Kandi has always been that chick, will always be that chick. Nobody ever say sh*t about Kandi. That’s my girl,” she finished.
“That is awesome,” Andy said. He asked Kelly if he watched Kandi on the show.
“Of course,” she replied. “I had a couple of moments where I got really mad at other people on the show, because like, don’t mess with Kandi. That was my thing, don’t mess with Kandi.” To be fair, not a lot of people messed with Kandi except maybe Phaedra Parks and Sheree Whitfield.
“She’s worldwide,” Andy agreed. He’s absolutely right. Kandi is multifaceted, she’s an entrepreneur, a Broadway producer, a television actress, and now a Wifetime Achievement awardee too! Plus, even though she’s extremely busy now, she has said she can’t rule out returning to her RHOA roots.
