As ever, viewers can assume that there are backstories and that editing is a slick business. In The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 10, there was a major reconciliation between Gizelle Bryant and Monique Saumels. But not all of it made it to air.
Their conflict imploded in Season 5 when Monique brought up rumors about Gizelle’s ex-husband Jamal Bryant. But when the RHOP alum realized how much she hurt Gizelle’s daughters, she apologized. The sit-down filmed for Episode 10. But both RHOP ladies say there is more to that conversation.
Where do Gizelle Bryant and Monique Samuels stand after Monique’s Real Housewives of Potomac return?
During the RHOP After Show, Gizelle shared that she is “super happy” with where she stands with her former cast mate.
The original RHOP star said, “Monique and I have history, and I appreciate the history … The fact that Monique and I were able to get through that, I have newfound respect for her and respect for our relationship.”
The GnA co-founder appreciated Monique’s apology at the lunch. Both parties were able to acknowledge their “messy moments.” It set the tone for a more open conversation. Gizelle confirmed, “we were able to really have a big-girl conversation.”
“It’s hard to do. But there has been enough time,” the mother-of-three continued. “Five years have passed. So, it’s like, OK, I think it’s now time… We went from beginning to end. Like, ‘This is what you did,’ and she explained why she did it.”
Gizelle reiterated the tone during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live December 7. Editing did a number on the conversation. To the point that the RHOP star admitted “y’all missed everything.”
“She was accountable, we apologized to each other, we got into it,” the reality TV star told host Andy Cohen. “We really went there, and we laughed, and it was just very unexpected, but it was refreshing. It was good… I wish they would’ve showed everything that she said, because she said a lot, as well.”
The “nice grown-up moment” is a fresh start, especially now that Monique is filming for the show again. Gizelle chalked it up to “a lot of misunderstanding between her and I.”
