Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta featured the introduction of newbie Brit Eady. For Brit, her freshman season was a roller-coaster ride with plenty of lows. Still, her decision to skip the RHOA reunion was a bit of a shock.
However, after dropping out of the reunion, Brit’s choice to depart the show wasn’t a surprise. “I don’t owe anyone closure, I only owe myself to do what’s best for me. My journey here is done,” she announced via Instagram. Now, Brit is cutting ties with something else that she doesn’t want to bring into 2026: her marriage to Michael Cunningham.
Brit Eady separated from husband Michael Cunningham in early December

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Brit announced that her five-year marriage was ending. “And for the record, as much as I can’t stand him, we are not going to create a false narrative that I’m walking away because of any fake made-up rumors,” the RHOA alum posted. She also mentioned “disrespect, toxicity, and triggers” in the post.
Brit hit up the courthouse on January 7 and filed for divorce. TMZ reported that in the court papers, Brit noted that the date of separation was December 1, 2025. She also stated that the marriage is “irretrievably broken.” In addition, Brit opposes Michael receiving any alimony or spousal support.
The legal documents also stated that the couple agreed to sell their home in Fulton County. Michael and Brit also agreed to split the money from the sale. Plus, Brit would like them to retain their individual cars. And she is requesting that the court documents be sealed because they are public figures and reality stars.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the only legal action that Brit is involved in. She sued Bravo for $20 million over the disturbing stunt that Kenya Moore pulled on RHOA. As you may recall, Kenya displayed a poster that allegedly showed explicit photos of Brit during the opening of Kenya’s hair care spa.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta is streaming on Peacock.
