Earlier this week, Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., died. When speaking about his passing, Andy Cohen naturally grew emotional. He’s also a parent and a friend of Mary’s. As Andy stressed, parents should never have to bury their children. He “can’t think of anything worse” than what Mary’s now facing.
Andy Cohen spoke about Robert Cosby Jr.’s death on his SiriusXM show
On Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Andy emotionally spoke about Robert Jr.’s passing. As he explained, he talked to “[Mary] on Tuesday for a while. And you know, it’s just, I think it’s every parent’s worst nightmare.”
In his opening segment, Andy said, “We’re so sad to read the news about Mary Cosby’s son, Robert, and I just, I can’t think of anything worse than losing a child, and in this way.” Andy then turned to his co-host, John Hill. As Andy recalled, “John, you and I have talked so much on this show about addiction and the heartbreak that is associated.”
Viewers of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City tend to agree on one aspect: Mary’s raw conversations with her son, in which they discussed his struggles and his hopeful path to recovery, were some of the most vulnerable scenes to ever appear on Bravo
During these scenes, Andy “really admired that” Mary “met” her son “where he was in a way, and she was kind of gently steering him or guiding him” towards a better future.
Andy’s concerned that “everyone around [Robert Jr.] is probably second-guessing their own actions,” asking “what more could they have done.” But as John noted, everyone did the best that they could. Also, Robert Jr. was “so lucky to have a mother like Mary.”
Moving forward, John hopes that people “remember how brilliantly she showed up” for her son.
As the men closed out this segment, they sent “all [their] love to Mary and Robert,” further stressing, “We love you so much.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is streaming on Peacock.
