It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kandi Burruss. She just settled her divorce from Todd Tucker, and the pair also resolved an ongoing lawsuit related to their restaurant, Blaze Steak & Seafood. They had to pay their landlord over $140,000. With that in mind, it’s probably been a costly couple of weeks, too.
While all of these cases unfolded in court, Kandi sat down on the Question Everything podcast. During the chat, Kandi seemed to suggest that she and Todd weren’t aligned on their many business ventures, and she might have some regrets.
Kandi seemingly regrets opening businesses with Todd Tucker
Kandi’s episode of this podcast is an interesting listen because it’s clear the host wasn’t very familiar with her work. All of the questions rolled on with the cadence of an awkward job interview. Still, Kandi managed to spill some tea.
The host asked, “Tell me about a time that you wanted to sit and not stand on business because you are standing all of the time.”
“Right now,” Kandi replied, to which the host replied, “Really? I’m surprised to hear that.”
Kandi started explaining how stressful it has felt to have her hands in so many different pots. Juggling her suite of fledgling restaurants, a music career, television, and motherhood is a lot. The divorce added another layer to it.
“Having all those different businesses has been a stressful situation,” Kandi explained, “But I guess because … now [that] I’m getting divorced, it’s kind of like, doing things together, we’re not on the same page.”
“I just want to go back to my creative space,” she admitted.
Now that Kandi is free from Todd, she’s manifesting a less stressful life. She’s also coming up on her 50th birthday, so she’s ready to do things differently. Launching a bunch of unrelated business ventures probably isn’t on the agenda anymore. Instead, she wants to continue leaning into her creative projects, like Broadway and music.
Kandi explained, “I don’t want to be stressed. I want to enjoy life to the fullest. I want to enjoy the perks and the money that I’ve made, and I want to create more things that bring me joy.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns to Bravo on Sunday, April 5 at 8/7c. You can always stream it on Peacock.
