After just a bit of controversy, Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kandi Burruss and ex-husband Todd Tucker settled their divorce. The former RHOA star paid Todd a lump sum of over $400,000. While the details were redacted from the public filing, Kandi explains why she had to pay the amount and how the split worked out.
Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker reached a divorce settlement

Kandi elaborated the details of the divorce settlement with US Weekly. She said that everything was split evenly and explained why the even split required her to pay a large lump sum.
“We are joint. Everything is split evenly,” Kandi shared. “We have properties together that we had to split equally. Basically, it’s just so we just have to end up with equal equity.”
In line with this, Kandi explained that her lump sum payment offset the value of the additional property she kept in the settlement.
“It is who got what properties, and if I ended up with one more, I just had to pay the difference up,” Kandi explained. “So we are still equal in what we got. Because I ended up with more on the property side, then I just paid the different stuff. So it’s not like I had to pay him.”
The pair will also be sharing joint and legal physical custody of their two children, and neither one will have to pay child support or spousal support. They also agreed to sell a joint business they own together.
Todd will leave Kandi’s guest home within 15 days of the parenting deal being signed. The couple divided their cars evenly as well. As far as Bravolebrities go, it’s not as contentious as it could have been, and equal equity with no support seems very magnanimous in the end.
With all of that settled, Kandi and Todd can focus on their kids, which was always their goal.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta returns to Bravo on Sunday, April 5 at 8/7c. It streams on Peacock.
