Gavin Newsom Trolls Donald Trump Over His Excuse For Jesus Photo

Gavin Newsom poked fun at President Donald Trump after the latter justified posting an AI-generated photo of himself seemingly resembling Jesus Christ. The roast started after Trump shared and then deleted the image, which got backlash from both Catholics and his own supporters.

The backlash got worse when Donald Trump addressed the photo, claiming confusion about its meaning. “I thought it was me as a doctor—it had to do with Red Cross, there’s a Red Cross worker there, which we support,” he said, before criticizing “the fake news.” He added, “I just heard about it, and I said, ‘How did they come up with that?’ It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better (via The Hill).”

However, Gavin Newsom’s office publicly challenged that explanation. In a post on X, his team juxtaposed Trump’s photo with a traditional depiction of Jesus in a white robe and red sash, questioning, “Does this look like a ‘Red Cross worker’ to you?” As it contrasts with the standard, practical vestments of actual Red Cross personnel.

The governor also revived his “Dementia Don” moniker. This is a recurring line of attack questioning the president’s mental sharpness as he turns 80 this June. However, that’s not all. The governor’s office doubled down on the trolling by posting an alternate, darker version of the AI photo.

Gavin Newsom’s rendition showed Donald Trump as the Grim Reaper, wielding a scythe and wearing a MAGA hat. The shadowy figure of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is visible in the background. “Trump may have deleted his post, but we will not be deleting ours!” Newsom’s team declared.

The trolling comes amid broader controversy following Donald Trump’s extraordinary public criticism of Pope Leo. The president had condemned the American-born pontiff as “weak on crime, and terrible for foreign policy.” This happened after the latter called him out regarding the war in Iran.
