Donald Trump Calls Out Jerome Powell For Staying : ‘Nobody Wants Him’

Donald Trump took to social media to slam Jerome Powell for his latest announcement of continuing to stay on the Fed’s Board of Governors. He made a shocking claim about the reason behind Powell’s decision. These remarks come amid Powell’s latest briefing. He made it clear that his choice to remain at the Federal Reserve is not driven by politics. He also stated that he would not interfere in the transition process of Kevin Warsh, who is set to take on his responsibilities.

Donald Trump makes fun of Jerome Powell’s decision

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to call out Jerome Powell for not leaving his seat on the Fed’s Board of Governors. He wrote, “Jerome “Too Late,” Powell wants to stay at the Fed because he can’t get a job anywhere else — Nobody wants him.” These comments come amid Powell’s announcement that he’ll stay at the Fed even after his term concludes May 15.

He said, “I’m literally staying because of the actions that have been taken. I had long planned to be retiring.” He added, “The things that have happened in the last three months, they have left me no choice but to stay until I see them through, at least that long.” Also, he promised to “keep a low profile” as a governor. Powell further stressed how the governors are aware of the importance of the chair’s role. He believes that one tries to collaborate and support the chair as and when they can.

Powell has been chair of the Federal Reserve since 2018. However, he found himself in the bad books of Trump. It was when he refused to cut the interest rates as he was asked to. Moreover, in early 2026, the DOJ also decided to do an investigation into Powell over renovation costs of Fed buildings. It was to check if he had provided false testimony. However, the investigation was closed recently, with U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, warning that she might restart it if needed.
