The first Monday in May has arrived, and that means famous faces (and their stylists … and their glam squads) will all be gearing up to walk the steps of the Met for tonight’s annual Met Gala. This year, however, several celebrities – including the likes of Bella Hadid – have turned down their invites, allegedly in protest of Jeff Bezos sponsoring the event.
Bella, Zendaya, and a slew of other celebs will skip the event

While former Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour is the big boss when it comes to the Met Gala, Amazon founder Jeff and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, are the lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs this year.
But Jeff and Lauren’s involvement in the 2026 Met Gala has not gone down well with everyone. In fact, their sponsorship of the ball has prompted many celebrities to pull out of attending.
Take model and actor Bella, for example, who has attended the Met Gala five times over the years. She seemingly made her position clear by liking a post about Jeff’s sponsorship on Instagram, per Page Six. “I love the ICE out pins, but you can’t wear them to the @jeffbezos backed Met Gala!” the caption read.
Zendaya is another famous face who will allegedly not walk the steps of the Met this year. She has attended the ball several times and even served as co-chair in 2024. Per ELLE, Zendaya needs “a break from the spotlight” after the recent press tours for The Drama and Euphoria Season 3. That said, people online continue to speculate about the real reason she’s skipping the event.
Despite the backlash, this is not actually the first time that Jeff has donated to the Met Gala. He first sponsored the event through Amazon back in 2012.
