King Charles III’s U.S. visit has caused quite a lot of stir. Amid this, some royal watchers believe that the monarch sent a biting message to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Notably, Charles never mentioned the couple by name, but he did speak about “reconciliation.” He spoke of the idea several times during his trip, while the Sussexes did not show up at his New York event, and reportedly did not even listen to his speech.
King Charles’ talk of ‘reconciliation’ dubbed as snub towards Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
RadarOnline exclusively reported that King Charles and Queen Camilla attended a King’s Trust Gala in New York on April 29, where they mixed with well-known names from fashion and media. However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not among the guests. Harry and Markle, who live in California, drew notice for their absence. There had been speculation over whether the king might see his younger son while in the U.S., but no such meeting took place.
The chatter grew louder due to Charles’ choice of words during his address to Congress. He spoke about the history of Britain and the United States as one of “reconciliation and renewal,” later using a similar theme at the White House state dinner, saying, “The story of Britain and America is one of reconciliation.”
Some Reddit users praised Charles’ handling of the visit, while others argued that the remarks had nothing to do with the Sussexes. One commenter wrote, “He’s a top diplomat – 70 years of training and a fabulous role-model to look up to!!” while another added, “Not everything is about Harry and Meghan.”
The Palace has not suggested that Charles’ comments were aimed at Harry or Markle. Officially, the visit was all about diplomacy and the long relationship between the U.K. and the U.S. But as Charles spoke warmly about nations making peace, royal watchers could not ignore that his own family rift remains a matter of scrutiny.
