King Charles Won’t See Prince Harry To Avoid Overshadowing US Visit — Report

While King Charles III is currently on his state visit in the US, he will reportedly not meet his youngest son, Prince Harry. While there is no official news on the matter, reports suggest a political reason may be behind the decision.

Podcaster predicts why King Charles won’t meet Prince Harry on US visit

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are on a state visit to the US. They arrived on April 27 and will return on April 30. Among other political reasons, their trip is also to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Furthermore, it also aims to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and the United States amid ongoing global conflicts.

Although the king and queen are nearing the end of their visit, their plan doesn’t include visiting Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who resides in California with his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two children.

John McDermott, the host of “Palace Intrigue” and “Crown and Controversy – King Charles” podcasts, reportedly speculated that if King Charles III were to meet his son, it would divert attention from the original purpose of the visit and make it personal (via USA Today).

“If one of the royals goes out, they’ve got all the spotlight on them. This week’s agenda is Charles and Camilla, and again, if you meet with Harry, that becomes the story,” McDermott explained.

Meanwhile, Rob Shuter reported that there was a possibility of a reunion at one point. However, Harry and Meghan’s recent trip to Australia “changed everything.” His sources claimed, “That trip killed it. The palace saw the optics and pulled back fast.”

Prince Harry and King Charles III have a strained relationship following Harry’s and Megan’s departure from royal duties in 2020. Since then, there has been very limited contact between the two families.

Meanwhile, King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s visit is just months after President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania made a state visit to the United Kingdom between September 16 and 18, 2025. During their visit, the two were hosted by King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Similarly, the Republican leaders spoke about various political matters at a press conference.
