Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Mikayla Matthews has revealed she is leaving Utah and moving to Hawaii. While the relocation will hopefully do wonders for the reality TV star’s health, fans will no doubt be wondering … can MomTok survive this?
Mikayla makes the big move due to her CIRS Diagnosis
In a recent Instagram Reel, Mikayla revealed that she’s “starting a new chapter.” That involves departing Utah for sunnier climes to help ease her symptoms of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS).
“Travel with me to heal my skin,” she said in the opening moments of the clip. She then went into detail about her relocation plans. “It’s finally time to tell you guys where I’m moving away,” she teased. “We’re going to Hawaii.”
Although Mikayla didn’t reveal exactly how long she intends to stay in Hawaii – or if the move is permanent – her video revealed that some of her kids have joined her for the journey. The 26-year-old influencer shares four children with her now-estranged husband, Jace Terry. These are Beckham, 8, Haven, 6, Tommie, 4, and Lottie, 9 months.
In a follow-up Instagram video, Mikayla expressed her gratitude at being able to travel to help heal her CIRS. “I think every single day how grateful I am to be in the position that I’m in,” she said. “The stress of having to heal your body and having to worry about taking care of your kids or paying your bills, it’s just so overwhelming.”
Previously opening up about her diagnosis for the first time, Mikayla said on her Instagram Story in March: “I’m genuinely just barely surviving.”
“Chronic illness is all-consuming. I haven’t been able to show up as the mom I want to be for the last couple years,” she went on. “I just want to feel like myself again.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu.
