Matt Damon & Tom Holland’s The Odyssey Trailer Is ‘Insanely Epic’

Universal Pictures dropped a new trailer for Matt Damon and Tom Holland‘s The Odyssey on April 4. The trailer first debuted on the latest episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It stars Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope, and Holland as their son Telemachus. Fans are already impressed with the trailer, with one individual even calling it “insanely epic.”

Fans react to The Odyssey’s new trailer

The Odyssey, based on Homer’s classic poem, is Christopher Nolan’s 13th feature film. The trailer shows the epic adventures of Odysseus on his way home after the Trojan War, and the turmoil his family faces back in Ithaca.

It gives a glimpse of Robert Pattinson’s antagonist, Antinous, an Ithacan suitor who tries to manipulate Penelope and Telemachus into giving up on Odysseus. Further, Charlize Theron appears as Calypso, a nymph on Ogygia who attempts to keep Odysseus as her immortal husband.

DiscussingFilm on X (formerly Twitter) posted the trailer, and fans are stoked about the upcoming film. User @Mohsin_hassanmh wrote, “This trailer looks insanely epic! Nolan + IMAX is about to cook something legendary?” Another fan, @MILCplatform, remarked, “nolan really said let me take the oldest story ever written and make it hit like the first time.”

Meanwhile, @KnightsofTitan praised the action scenes, “The action looks incredible!” User @watchmen1999ozy wrote, “This already feel like a masterpiece.” @Web3_canvas_x expressed similar sentiments, writing, “Nolan’s Odyssey trailer already looking INSANE July 17 we’re eating good af!!”

Nolan’s last feature film was Oppenheimer, released in 2023. The sci-fi movie earned 13 Academy Award nominations and bagged six of them, including Best Director for Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy. Oppenheimer’s release coincided with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

Similarly, The Odyssey will hit the theaters on the same day as Disney and Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Notably, both movies star Tom Holland and Zendaya. So, fans can expect a repetition of history as they dress up to watch both films.
