For the British Royal Family, public perception is both armor and vulnerability. However, an interview with Oprah Winfrey promised unprecedented access to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, after their departure from royal duties. A newly published report offered a glimpse into that period, revealing Prince William felt deeply unsettled before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2021 tell-all with the beloved talk show host.
Author reveals Prince Williams was worried about Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey
In a newly published work, an author has detailed how Prince William spent weeks in a state of quiet dread as Prince Harry’s tell-all March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey approached.
In his latest biography of Kate Middleton, Kate! The Courage, Grace and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, author Christopher Andersen writes that the Princess of Wales heard her husband retching in the bathroom for a full week prior to the interview.
The 43-year-old Prince allegedly worried obsessively about what Harry and Meghan would reveal on air. The stress reportedly left him too distracted to consider eating.
As per Page Six, the couple’s interview with Winfrey covered several topics. Among them was Middleton and Markle’s pre-wedding dispute over Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress in May 2018. The dispute reportedly left the bride in tears.
Prince Harry also acknowledged that his relationship with his older brother, William, was strained. He noted there was “a lot of hurt” between the sibling duo.
However, the biggest revelation came when the 90210 alum addressed comments from unnamed members of the royal family. She said that they had raised “concerns” with her husband about their unborn child’s skin color and what that would mean for the monarchy.
Andersen’s 2021 book, Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan, claims that King Charles III had discussed the same with Queen Camilla. According to the book, he asked, “I wonder what the children will look like? … I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?”
Page Six had contacted Prince William’s spokesperson, who declined to comment.
