Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, are making their return to the UK. Friends, however, have revealed that there’s a personal motive behind them coming back to Britain. Reports suggest that the couple has also secured a low-key new UK home ahead of their comeback.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s pals reveal why they’re moving back to UK
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to wrap up their life in California and return to the UK later this month.
Speaking about the move, friends close to the couple are saying that the shift is intentional. As BBC Senior Royal Correspondent Daniela Relph explains, it isn’t about struggles in America, but rather a matter of personal importance.
Relph said, “I am told that this move is not due to any problems in the US. It has been driven by the couple’s desire to spend time in Europe, nearer Harry’s family and wanting to educate their children in the UK.”
As reported by the Daily Express, a recent trip to Europe was a turning point. The visit included time in Portugal, where the Sussexes own a property. It gave their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the chance to meet aunts, uncles and cousins. Ms Relph shared that the experience “was described to me as ‘such a great time’ for the family. It turned a possible move back to the UK into a firm decision.”
The Sussex children reportedly already have schools lined up. The academic year kicks off across England in mid-September. Hence, the family is likely to be back in the UK within 10 days to settle into their new routine.
The exact address remains undisclosed, but it’s understood that the royal couple won’t settle in London. Ms Relph noted they are “likely instead to be swapping a multi-million-pound mansion in California for a slightly chillier prospect in the UK countryside.” Speculation points to the Cotswolds or Northamptonshire, near the Spencer family estate at Althorp.
