Why Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Are Behaving as ‘Pseudo-Royals’ — Expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were described as trying to keep royal influence alive after leaving official duties. The Duchess of Sussex and the Duke of Sussex are nearing their eighth wedding anniversary on May 19.

A new expert claim said their public status still depends on royal family proximity. The comments followed recent appearances in Australia and Ukraine, which were framed as pseudo-royal outings rather than formal Palace work.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry realize their status ‘depends on proximity to the royal family,’ per expert

As per a GB News report, commentator Rafe Haydel-Mankoo discussed Prince Harry’s recent moves. He claimed the Duke had “many regrets” about choices that left him estranged from Britain. The expert said Harry missed “being a royal prince.” He linked that feeling to his attempts to play “a prince in exile.” According to Haydel-Mankoo, who explained the “pseudo-royal tours” seen in Australia and Ukraine.

The commentator then widened the point to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as a couple. He said they had both realized their “prominence” and “status” depended on royal family proximity. The expert added that public interest fell when they moved further from “the royal world.” He said that distance also reduced interest in them “as people.” Meanwhile, GB News noted the couple moved to California after stepping back from duties in 2020. The outlet also said they now live in Montecito with Archie and Lilibet.

Haydel-Mankoo claimed the Sussexes were making efforts to look like working royals again. He said they styled themselves and carried on activities as if they still represented the royal family. The expert also claimed Harry may hope his overseas appearances show he can function royally again. However, he rejected the idea of a real return. “There’s a world of difference,” Haydel-Mankoo said, between Harry’s hopes and what could happen. He added it was “inconceivable” King Charles or Prince William would open that door.
