Brooke Shields is very close to her eldest daughter, Rowan Henchy. That’s why her initial reaction to Rowan joining the cast of Next Gen NYC was an immediate no. But she knows her daughter is old enough to make her own choices, so Brooke settled for giving her some sage advice for the show instead, and honestly, it’s something we could all learn from.

Brooke appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and the host wasted no time in asking her about Rowan joining the second season of Next Gen NYC. In a segment called Next Kin New NYC, he asked what advice Brooke gave her daughter about being in the spotlight.
Brooke was quick to point out that Rowan has been in the public eye since she was in utero, so, in a way, that’s nothing new to her. But naturally, this is different because it’ll be her without her famous mom. So as Rowan ventured out on this new adventure, Brooke gave her some wise words.
“I said, look, don’t be the girl throwing up,” Brooke shared. “Be the one holding the hair of the girl throwing up.”
Andy loved that nugget of wisdom and replied with a resounding “Yes! That’s good advice.”
Brooke elaborated further and said that her own famous mom used to tell her, “Don’t be the girl that, as you’re being carried out, you hear, ‘Did she have a purse?’”
Andy asked her if she and Rowan binge-watched the first season of the show in preparation for Rowan’s debut. Brooke said no. She said Rowan probably watched it, but she didn’t. She was worried that if she watched it, she might be even more apprehensive about Rowan joining the show. It was probably a good call on her part.
In either case, the die is cast. Rowan is making her debut in the upcoming new season when Next Gen NYC comes back in June.
