During his time on the E! series Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, Brendan seemed to be living the high life. He was even briefly married to Morgan Stewart, a fellow cast member. However, now the realtor stands accused of being involved in an alleged false property development and a Ponzi scheme.

The New York Post reported that Brendan is reportedly being sued by alleged victims who claim that his company, Carbonatik LLC, never actually existed. In addition, the supposed mining company in Sri Lanka reportedly promised investors a whopping 120% return on their investments. The company was founded in 2022 by Brendan and his partner, Dr. Joseph Swaminathan. Carbonatik LLC allegedly owned graphite resources, rare-earth minerals, and copper in Sri Lanka.

Reportedly, investors in the venture include entrepreneurs and Brendan’s acquaintances who allegedly handed over hundreds of thousands of dollars. In November 2025, investors Richard Segerson and Dave Smith sued Carbonatik for their $500,000 investment. They are awaiting trial. Meanwhile, a receiver has been appointed for Carbonatik, who denied the claims and countersued. These counterclaims include defamation.

Neither Brendan nor Joseph Swaminathan responded to the New York Post’s request for comment.

Plus, Brendan is facing another lawsuit, filed in London’s Commercial Court, by four Belgium-based investors. The lawsuit against Varko Luxco HoldCo S.à r.l., and Carbonatik involves the Varko Bay hotel development, which is located in Greece. Allegedly, the plaintiffs in the lawsuit claimed that they sold their interests in companies that were related to the project. However, they allege they were not fully paid under the agreement, and are suing for approximately $70 million in damages.
