Ana Navarro Addresses Tense Whoopi Goldberg Moment on The View

Ana Navarro is setting the record straight after a brief on-air clash with Whoopi Goldberg during The View’s much-discussed interview with Vice-President JD Vance. What looked like a tense exchange to viewers apparently didn’t leave any lasting drama behind the scenes?

The moment quickly generated headlines after Goldberg snapped at her longtime co-host while trying to steer the live show into a commercial break. But according to Navarro, the incident was far less dramatic than it appeared on television.

The View’s Ana Navarro addresses the Whoopi Goldberg moment during JD Vance’s interview

During the June 16 episode of The View, Vice-President JD Vance sat down with the panel for a wide-ranging conversation covering topics related to Donald Trump’s administration and current political issues. As the interview wrapped up, Ana Navarro attempted to squeeze in one last question while Whoopi Goldberg was trying to send the show to a commercial break.

The result was an awkward live-TV moment, with Goldberg exclaiming, “God, Ana, please!” before adding, “Don’t do that.”

Days later, Navarro addressed the exchange on The View’s companion show, Behind the Table, alongside executive producer Brian Teta.

“You know there was a little bit of a tense moment with Whoopi and I,” Navarro admitted, as per Entertainment Weekly.

According to Navarro, the issue came down to timing rather than personal conflict. She revealed she had hoped to ask Vance whether he condemned comments directed at former First Lady Michelle Obama, but simply ran out of time.

“That moment with Whoopi, first of all, look, this is a live show, that’s why it gets messy sometimes,” Navarro explained. “We ran out of time.”

She also acknowledged Goldberg’s responsibility as moderator, saying, “Whoopi’s job is to moderate and be a moderator.”

Teta echoed that sentiment, noting that multiple crew members were signaling that the segment was ending. Navarro joked that she felt like “that person in the Oscars trying to finish their speech as they cut the mic off.”

Most importantly, Navarro made it clear there was no lingering friction between the co-hosts. “Whoopi Goldberg and I are close friends, and we don’t take this out of the studio,” she said. “It didn’t matter to me one bit, I don’t think it mattered to her either.”

While the clip sparked plenty of chatter online, Navarro insisted it was simply another hectic day at “The View.”
