The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to travel to Britain next month alongside their children, Archie and Lilibet, as part of events surrounding the Invictus Games. While the visit has fueled speculation about a possible family reconciliation, sources claim Charles remains guarded when it comes to Meghan.
King Charles reportedly remains wary of Meghan Markle, claims source
According to an insider, the monarch has not forgotten the impact that years of public disputes and allegations have had on the Royal Family.
“Charles has already paid a price for pushing for this reunion, it’s caused so much tension between him and William and it’s got Camilla angry with him, too,” the source claimed to “Closer.”
The insider added that some members of the family believe the King is taking a significant risk by welcoming the Sussexes back into the royal fold.
“They’re convinced he’s taking an unnecessary risk and setting them all up for more agony,” the source said, adding that Charles spent years keeping a distance from Harry and Meghan after growing frustrated with the fallout from their public revelations.
The source further alleged that the King still feels “very burned” by the controversies that surrounded the Sussexes’ interviews, projects and public comments over the years.
“He’s still very burned by all the public airing of grievances that have happened over the years,” the insider claimed. “Fairly or unfairly, there’s a strong feeling within the family that Meghan encouraged a lot of it, which is why there’s still so much wariness around her.”
Despite those concerns, Charles reportedly remains committed to making the upcoming visit work. Sources previously claimed the King wants the trip to proceed without drama and hopes it can provide an opportunity for family members to reconnect.
However, the reported tensions within royal circles suggest that trust remains a sensitive issue. While the visit may mark a step toward improved relations, insiders say many family members remain cautious about what comes next.
