According to reports by USA Today, Paul McCartney performed “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” the song that helped spark Beatlemania in the United States. The performance reportedly became one of the biggest highlights of Swift and Kelce’s star-studded reception. Reports also claim that McCartney performed the song for the first time in 60 years. He last performed the track in September 1964 at the Paramount Theatre in New York. Released by The Beatles in 1963, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” became one of the best selling singles worldwide, selling more than 12 million copies.
Taylor Swift and McCartney’s connection goes back more than a decade. In 2015, they performed together during the 40th anniversary celebration of Saturday Night Live. Five years later, they reunited for Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians issue, where they discussed music, songwriting, and life. McCartney also attended Swift’s Eras Tour concerts in June 2024. Their long standing friendship made his appearance at the wedding reception even more notable.
