Jaime King is clearing the air around Taylor Swift. The actress responded after fans questioned why she and her son, Leo Thames, did not attend Swift’s Madison Square Garden wedding to Travis Kelce.
Jaime King responds to questions about Taylor Swift friendship
Jaime King became part of the Taylor Swift wedding conversation after fans noticed her absence from the star-studded July 3 celebration. The questions grew even louder because Swift is the godmother of King’s son, Leo.
According to Page Six, King’s publicist, Jane Owen, addressed the speculation surrounding the friendship and Leo’s absence. Owen said King chose Swift as Leo’s godmother because both women understand that being a godmother is a “deeply personal and spiritual commitment.” Moreover, she says that they believe it has nothing to do with public appearances.
The statement appeared to address one major assumption: not receiving a wedding invitation does not automatically mean a friendship has ended. Owen also said Leo Thames was still too young to attend a large adult wedding celebration. However, she added that he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s marriage in their own special, age-appropriate way. They did so during his summer break.
The conversation surrounding King’s son has followed Swift for years. The singer became Leo’s godmother after the actress welcomed him in 2015. King previously praised Swift’s values, work ethic, and closeness to family. She explained that those qualities were why she wanted the pop star to take on the role.
Of course, speculation about King and Swift’s friendship did not begin with the wedding. Reports suggesting a change in their friendship surfaced before questions arose about the Madison Square Garden guest list. The two were once publicly close, but fans have not seen them together frequently in recent years.
Still, King’s representative pushed back against the idea that Leo’s absence proved anything about the relationship. The statement described Swift’s role as Leo’s godmother as a private matter, not something measured by red carpets, guest lists, or wedding photos.
For now, King has not personally issued a public statement. However, through her representative, she made one thing clear: her son’s relationship with Swift is not defined by public appearances.
