Olivia Rodrigo Doesn’t Back Down After ICE Song Controversy

Olivia Rodrigo opened up about feeling “enraged” after an ICE propaganda video featuring her 2023 track All-American Bitch circulated in November 2025 without her approval. The video included a message calling on immigrants to “LEAVE NOW and self-deport.”

Olivia Rodrigo says DHS using her song in an ICE video left her “enraged”

According to Blast, Rodrigo has now turned her anger into action, using her platform to promote civic awareness. The 23-year-old singer is encouraging fans to become informed ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, which are scheduled to be held on November 3, through an initiative connected to her upcoming Daisy Chain Fields music festival. The one-day event will feature an all-women lineup and is scheduled to take place on August 29 at Great Park in Irvine, California, Yahoo Entertainment states.

In a June interview with Dazed ahead of the release of her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, Rodrigo expressed how seeing the controversial video by the Department of Homeland Security while scrolling through her phone was “deeply disturbing.” The Drop Dead singer and former Disney star said, “The fact it was my song in there made me feel even more enraged. What they’re doing is so awful and barbaric and cruel. I am really sad to be in a country that thinks that’s OK.”

The Department of Homeland Security had shared a video containing the message, “LEAVE NOW and self-deport using the CBP Home app. If you don’t, you will face the consequences,” alongside lyrics from All-American Bitch, which were featured throughout the clip.

Rodrigo publicly responded to the post, criticizing the use of her music and stating, “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.” After her comment, the audio was removed from the video.

Rodrigo is among several artists who have spoken out against the use of their music in DHS-related content. In December 2025, Sabrina Carpenter called out the Trump administration for featuring her song Juno in an ICE video. Carpenter wrote on X, “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”
