Steph Curry has shared his thoughts as speculation around LeBron James continues to grow. He admitted that he would welcome a chance to play alongside the NBA legend. However, Curry also added that James has the right to make his decision on his own timeline. The comments have added more to the latest LeBron James Warriors rumors.
The Warriors star weighs in on LeBron speculation
On July 8, Steph Curry spoke about LeBron James free agency while playing in the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. PEOPLE reported that Curry said, “Obviously, we would love to play together,” and “Hopefully it happens.” He also stated that James needs some time to consider his further career choices. Curry’s remarks immediately sparked additional discussion regarding the Golden State Warriors.
According to ESPN’s Sham Charania, the Golden State Warriors hoped to build a roster around Curry, Draymond Green, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Charania also claimed the Warriors feel that James would be interested if the team also sign Davis. Davis joined the Washington Wizards after last season’s trade involving the Dallas Mavericks. He has not yet played a game for Washington.
Charania also reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks remain possible landing spots for James. No team has reached an agreement with the four-time NBA champion. James has not announced where he plans to play next season. His decision remains one of the biggest stories of the NBA offseason.
James plans to leave the Los Angeles Lakers after spending eight seasons with the franchise. He won an NBA championship with the team in 2020 and spent the past two seasons playing alongside his son, Bronny James. Bronny’s rookie contract became fully guaranteed shortly before James announced his decision about his future. Fans now continue to wait for the next update on his free agency.
