Taylor Swift Wedding Guest Thought Invite Was a Scam—and Deleted It

A mistake kept one guest from attending Taylor Swift’s fairytale wedding. A veteran music producer accidentally deleted his invite after thinking it was spam. His wife recently shared this story, revealing how a small misunderstanding led them to miss a grand celebration.

The producer mistook the invite for junk mail

This invitation mishap happened with producer Garret and his wife, Melissa. Melissa recently posted about the incident on HuffPost. As per her essay, Garret received a text containing the invitation but did not believe it to be authentic.

Instead of opening or responding to the mail, he simply deleted it. He thought it was either a junk mail or an attempt to hack his device. By the time he realised his mistake, the opportunity to attend the wedding had already passed.

When Melissa questioned him about ignoring the invitation, Garret explained his reasoning. “I got a text, but I thought it was spam,” he recalled. “Remember I told you I got a text from her manager? But I didn’t respond to it. It didn’t sound like him.” Melissa admits she was really angry with him after learning about the incident. However, she eventually forgave her husband of 32 years.

The couple had met Taylor Swift after she used their remote music studio in Topanga, California. Their past connection made the invitation a genuine one, despite Garret believing otherwise initially.

The mistake carried extra irony because Garret has previously worked on Taylor Swift’s popular album Red. The record has a list of her many popular songs, including “All Too Well”. Thus, his missing out on the wedding comes with a pinch of salt for fans amongst all the celebrations.

Although the couple did not make it to the wedding, their story is now circulating among Swifties. What was initially thought of as spam mail ended up becoming an unusual anecdote surrounding the star-studded wedding.
