The two-time Daytime Emmy nominee passes away after a private fight with recurring esophageal and stomach cancer

Jackson Bryce, son of Scott Bryce, confirmed the news in a post on Instagram July 12. Jackson said his father first received a diagnosis of stage 3 esophageal cancer before the disease spread to his brain. He said Scott was a brave man who endured treatment of radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy and who never gave up on his recovery. Even a week before his death, Jackson revealed that his father thought he could still overcome cancer despite suffering from brain tumors, slurred speech and blurry vision.

Jackson said Scott was the “hardest and most honorable fighter” he had ever known. He also reflected on Scott’s successful acting career, which included two Daytime Emmy Award nominations and work alongside many respected actors. Jackson shared one of his father’s favorite jokes, saying Scott wanted people to remember him as “a one-take actor. Two takes, max.”

Jackson said his father believed his biggest achievement was becoming a father at age 50. He recalled Scott cheering at every basketball game. Scott Bryce was born in New York to actors Ed and Dorothy Bryce. He was best known as Craig Montgomery on As the World Turns, making multiple appearances from 1982 to 2008, and had an early storyline with Meg Ryan. He had a TV career that lasted over 40 years, with his last credited appearance in Law & Order taking place in 2024.
