Bret Michaels has shared a health update after an unexpected medical emergency interrupted his busy tour schedule. The Poison singer has admitted that doctors operated after a painful kidney stone failed to pass. He also described the reasons for his continuing to perform despite the extreme pain. Michaels announced the news to fans in a post on Facebook.

Michaels said a kidney stone caused him severe pain for seven days before he went to the hospital. He said the stone “would not pass” and “the pain became too much.” Despite this, he still performed in Charleston, West Virginia, Grantville, Pennsylvania, and at a private event at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. He said doctors admitted him to the hospital “immediately, the next day” after the Spokane performance.
Michaels later confirmed that the doctors completed the procedure successfully. He wrote, “The operation has been done and is complete & I’m out of post-op recovery.” He also said, “I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health.” Bret thanked everyone who helped him in his recovery.
Michaels also shared his insights from the experience. He said he is now completely grateful to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who took care of him. He added that he feels “wise enough to know how important family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses play such a vital role in our everyday health.” Michaels is set to head back to the stage on July 31 in Belleville, Illinois, and will keep touring North America through September.
