When Angie Katsanevas first joined The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in Season 3, Mary Cosby took a beat to warm up to the newbie. Though they eventually became close, their friendship has gone through some ups and downs over the years.
Ahead of Season 7, Angie shared where her relationship with Mary stands. For her part, Angie recently allegedly separated from her husband of 27 years, hairstylist Shawn Trujillo. While just a few months ago, Mary lost her only child, Robert Jr., to a suspected overdose.
“She’s going through a lot, and I’m going through a lot,” Angie said on July 23.

“It’s just very real and raw challenges that friends deal with,” Angie told Us Weekly. “There’s a lot of ups and downs.”
Though she claims they “love each other deeply,” both women are going through their respective emotional moments. It’s not unexpected that they would draw back into their own feelings and put some boundaries up. Despite their deep bonds with each other, they each need time to heal in their own way.
Angie hinted that there will be “a lot of focus” on “deep friendships” when RHOSLC returns for Season 7. “Everyone is so funny in their own way, but the relationships are real,” Angie added. “There’s a lot of love and mutual respect with all the women … The relationships are getting deeper, the bond is getting deeper, and I think you feel that.”
But should the show focus so much on Angie and Mary’s friendship? They’re both experiencing a lot of pain and need space to grieve.
And honestly, the constant rollercoaster of their relationship is getting a little tedious. Angie sometimes seems to be trying too hard with Mary, while the First Lady of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church can at times be somewhat prickly.
Maybe it’s time to give these two a rest and focus on some of the other relationships on RHOSLC Season 7.
