Attorney Ben Crump’s legal team is examining new evidence related to the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells. Crump said the team has hired some of the nation’s leading audio engineers to analyze the Sea Tow call placed on the day Wells went missing.

Crump discussed the latest developments in Nolan’s case during the National Urban League Conference on July 31, reports TMZ. Crump’s team is also consulting ocean engineering experts to examine how Wells’ body was discovered near the area where he was last seen. The development comes as Wells’ family continues to seek answers, while authorities’ investigation remains active and the state autopsy report is still pending.
Christine Wonsley, Nolan’s mother, shared her emotional experience of going 27 days without hearing from or embracing her son. The Mississippi teenager went missing during a Fourth of July boating trip to Horn Island before authorities found him dead along the shoreline two days later. His father, Elmore Wonsley, said in an interview with Good Morning America that Nolan had planned to return to school after the holiday weekend to begin training for the upcoming football season.
The independent autopsy’s preliminary report classified Nolan’s cause and manner of death as undetermined while further analysis continues. The second examination did not include several organs, including Nolan’s throat. Crump said his team is seeking to consult with the doctor who performed the autopsy.
The investigation continues to attract national attention. In a recent interview with Don Lemon, Crump said authorities have not yet told the family whether they suspect foul play in Wells’ death. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe fundraiser established to support the family’s funeral and memorial costs has surpassed $789,127.
