According to EOnline, while performing in Philadelphia on Aug. 9, the Disney Channel alum paid tribute to the late Aaron Carter, whom she dated on and off for three years in the early aughts.
Plenty of time has passed since the two were an item. Even so, Duff proved she still holds the “Aaron’s Party” singer close to her heart, literally. For her show, the Lizzie McGuire star wore a white T-shirt featuring Carter.
The short-sleeved shirt showed a young Carter early in his career, standing in jeans overalls and a white and red shirt. Blue circles decorate the background, which also bears his name.
Duff and Carter had ended their relationship long before his death at age 34 in 2022. Her latest tribute comes months after Duff opened up about an unusual experience she said connected her to Carter after his death. Duff shares daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 5, and Townes, 2, with husband Matthew Koma, plus son Luca, 14, with ex Mike Comrie.
Hilary Duff once described a psychic visit from Aaron Carter.
Their bond ran deep enough that Carter once reached her through a psychic. Duff recounted the call during her appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast in April, explaining that the psychic did not know who she was. That psychic told her people would start showing up for her, then named someone present: Aaron, spelled with two As.
The 38-year-old asked whether it meant the “Do You Remember” singer, whom she met when he made a guest appearance on Lizzie McGuire. According to Duff, the psychic confirmed it and wondered what he was doing there. Duff replied that he was her “childhood boyfriend,” which made sense to her. The psychic then asked whether she was Hilary Duff.
Duff kept the rest of the visit private, though she called the whole thing a “really wild experience.”
As for her recent tribute to the “I Want Candy” singer, the Cadet Kelly star has put her love for her people on display while on the Hilary Duff tour. Her three daughters even joined her onstage during her second Madison Square Garden performance to eat Joe’s Pizza. After the snack and some chatting with the crowd, Duff asked them to “take this pizza off the stage” so everyone could get to bed.
